Civil Design Engineer

Glasgow

First People Solutions is currently working with a well-established consulting engineer that is looking to add a Civil Design Engineer to its Glasgow team.

They have a strong reputation across Scotland and the wider UK, working on a wide range of infrastructure and development projects. There's a real focus on technical quality, long-term development and giving engineers the opportunity to progress their careers.

The Role

You'll be joining an established civil engineering team, working on projects from initial feasibility and concept through to detailed design and construction support. You'll be working across a diverse range of infrastructure and development projects spanning Transport & Roads, Energy & Utilities, Environmental & Water Resources and Property & Built Environment.

Your work will include:

• Designing civil infrastructure including drainage, SuDS, roads and earthworks
• Producing technical calculations, drainage strategies and detailed design packages
• Preparing flood risk assessments and supporting technical submissions
• Using software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroDrainage or Causeway Flow
• Liaising with local authorities, utility providers and clients to obtain approvals
• Supporting senior engineers and project managers with client meetings and site visits
• Working across a varied portfolio of infrastructure and development projects

What They're Looking For

• A degree in Civil Engineering
• 3+ years of experience working within a UK consultancy in a civil infrastructure design role
• Good experience with AutoCAD and ideally Civil 3D and/or MicroDrainage/Causeway Flow
• An interest in progressing towards ICE Chartership (CEng) or IEng, or someone who has recently achieved it
• Good communication skills and a practical, collaborative approach to design
